Citizen Literacy

Citizen Literacy is a new, FREE app being developed by City College, Glasgow to help adults who are just starting to read and write or having difficulties in these areas.

If you think this might help you, the college would like you to try out the app and let them know what you think.

If you let me know you are looking at this by emailing:

Laura.finlay@inverclyde.gov.uk, I can arrange to get in touch and help you with any problems.

I can also pass on your comments about the app to the college when you are ready. The college will change and improve the app based on learners’ feedback.

CLD would also like to find out how useful the app is. If you and others find it worthwhile, we will let other learners know about it and include it on our Moodle learning platform when this is up and running.

To get started, watch the videos below:

1b. Introducing the Citizen Literacy app – a video for learners

This video will help introduce you to the Citizen Literacy app as a learner:

1c. How to use the Citizen Literacy app

This ‘how to’ video demonstrates how to use and navigate the Citizen Literacy app.

It will show you how the Citizen Literacy App works and provides a handy guide you can look at again and again.

There is also downloadable guide to using the app as a PDF document.

You can also watch a learner actually using the app on their smartphone:

There are also written guidance notes based on the videos. If you want these, please get in touch and I can arrange this.

The app is free to use, with no registration, no adverts, and no private data captured.

Once you are ready go to the app and try it out for yourself:

Remember to click on the Question mark ? and then on video camera icon to see the 1st video.

You can also access About – Citizen Literacy for further info on the project.

I hope that some of you find this useful and look forward to hearing from you as you start on your journey as a literacy citizen.

Laura.
