Explore John Muir

Hi everyone,

I would like to send you all best wishes for a safe and happy new year.

However, I am so sad that probably not going to be able to see you at Parklea again for a wee while.

How are you all doing?

Just thinking on ideas of how we can keep in touch and help you to keep on learning and not get too bored!

Thought it might be nice to take some inspiration from the great explorer and environmentalist , John Muir, again, and hopefully use any activities and learning done here on the website group as evidence towards another award this year.

Please look at the John Muir activity book online , using the link below, and see if there is anything you fancy trying. You might want to chat and decide along with your family and members of your bubble and then do something together.

Please let me know by e-mailing admin@parkleaassociation.org.uk what activity you did , how it felt and anything you learned from your experience.

You can always make up your own activity if nothing here takes your fancy.

Your activity should be connected with nature in some way and involve you exploring, or experiencing something in a different or surprising way and sharing that with us – that’s all.

I know that some of the ideas might be difficult as you will be limited to how much you can get outside, if at all, but remember – your garden counts –

It has its own wildlife and you can always send daily weather reports or photos of views from the windows of the house.

You can write, draw, take photos , make a video or record yourself speaking . Your choice to get us started.

Remember that no-one other than myself and other learners from Parklea can view this page. If you send anything to my e-mail first of all, we can then post it to the website for you, if you’re happy to do this.

I will join in and will pick an activity and let you know how I get on. Watch this space!

If there is enough interest – we might be able to make it more of a competition with some wee prizes maybe.

Please also let me know of anything you would like to see on the learners group page of the Parklea website please – it is there for you to use and enjoy and will help us all keep connected until we can get back to meeting face to face.

Take care everyone. Laura
