Poppy Scotland are looking for great Remembrance-themed poems written by Scotland’s learners to be a part of a special project to mark our centenary year of activities in 2021.
They would love to receive your poems, together with a short description of what inspired their writing, by Monday 1st February 2021. (Learning-PoppyScotland.org.uk)
As we like to do things together at Parklea, you can hand your poem into Parklea staff, give it to me when I’m there, or e-mail it to admin@parkleaassociation.org.uk, and I will send off all Parklea’s poetry submissions together to Poppy Scotland before the deadline. I look forward to seeing your work. Please write PBO Learner web on subject line when e-mailing.
Poppies are used as a symbol to help us to think about all the people that have died in war but your poem doesn’t need to be a war poem – you may want to write about someone special you remember or about what poppies mean.
See James’ poem below for inspiration:
"Poppies are remembering people and thinking of them
Poppies are red and bright and shine their light upon us
Poppies are quiet and forgiveness
Poppies are spirits watching over us."
A poem by James.
Also remember the ideas for writing poems in previous posts as well.
